Russia has reported the interception of more than 150 drones during what is considered one of the largest drone assaults by Ukraine in the ongoing conflict.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed 158 Ukrainian drones during the night, with two of these drones being neutralized over Moscow and nine in the adjacent areas.

In the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces have recently launched their most significant incursion into Russian territory since World War II, 46 drones were intercepted. Additionally, 34 drones were downed over the Bryansk region, 28 over the Voronezh region, and 14 over the Belgorod region, all of which share a border with Ukraine.

Drones were also targeted further within Russian territory, including one in the Tver region, located northwest of Moscow, and another in the Ivanovo region, situated northeast of the capital. The Defense Ministry indicated that interceptions occurred across 15 regions, while an additional governor reported a drone being shot down in his jurisdiction.

Moscow's Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, noted that debris from one of the drones downed over the city resulted in a fire at an oil refinery.
